Professional construction
The EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM lens is a high-performance standard zoom lens with a fast maximum aperture that stays constant throughout the zoom range. It is resistance to dust and moisture and focuses down to just 0.38m.

L-series quality
The L-series is Canon's flagship professional lens range, representing the best in precision-designed EF optics. L-series lenses combine superior performance with superlative handling, and are resistant to dust and moisture.

Ultrasonic focusingA ring-type ultrasonic motor drives autofocus extremely quickly, and in near silence. Excellent holding torque ensures the point of focus is reached accurately, without overshooting. Furthermore, full-time manual override is available, making it possible to adjust focus without leaving AF mode.

Subwavelength structure coating
Designed for use in digital photography, Canon’s patented lens-element coating helps minimise the ghosting and flare caused by internal reflection and helps to deliver crisp, clear images.

Accessories
The lens comes supplied with a lens hood and a soft case.

Smooth background blur
A virtually circular aperture diaphragm gives out of focus regions a softer, more uniform feel. Sharp foreground objects stand out against a smooth blurred background.

Reviews

"When I tested that first small batch of 24-70 Mk II lenses I said they were a bit sharper at 70mm than even the legendary Canon 70-200 f/2.8 IS II lens was. The 24-70 resolved 950 Line pairs / Image height at the center, and 810 overall, compared to the 70-200′s 885 / 765.

"Weighing 950g the 24-70 is quite a weighty lens for its size, especially when compared to third party equivalents. For the extra weight, you get a ruggedly built optic with weather sealing designed for daily professional use. A rubber gasket is located around the lens mount to prevent dust and moisture from getting into the camera.

Standard 77mm filters can be fitted via the front filter thread and focusing is performed internally, so

On full format DSLRs it's a fast standard zoom lens covering everything from moderate ultra-wide angles

"As anyone who's shot with one will attest (see the user reviews below), the Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 lens is just an exceptional optic. This was clearly evident in our DxO tests as well. On the sub-frame EOS-20D, the lens was tack sharp across the entire frame wide open, from 24-50mm. At 70mm, it softened slightly at

"The Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L USM Lens' MFD (Minimum Focus Distance) is about best (shortest) in class even without an extension tube. This short focus distance provides a very nice MM (Maximum Magnification). While not close to a 1:1 macro lens, the 24-70 L can take nice flower shots, product pictures ... Although it is not compatible with Canon's extenders, extension tubes will extend
