Ladies and Gentlemen, we live in the glory days of great leaks. The entire imaging industry is like a giant Japanese nuclear reactor right now...except for Canon of course, those guys really keep it tight. Poor Canon Rumors, the have to do with patent findings and hundreds of wacky rumors about upcoming Canon products. (hey cr, i have a dude who's girlfriends dad works for someone that knows this guy who claims that the new 5D Mark III will have 50 megapixls and a built-in lens washer!?! totally legit.). Nikon Rumors on the other hand, is rained upon with frequent, and mostly sometimes accurate leaks:
Back in the day we used to call'em 'white papers' even if they came in all sorts of colors. Once we we're done with'em we used'em to roll some wacky tobacky, or do our business in the outhouse if you know what i mean. There's also a white paper technical report on S100 at the same site (Canon camera museum..why do the keep their freshest stuff in a museum?) if anyone is into that sort of thing.
Just skimming the surface really, but for an aspiring DSLR videographer it may be a good introduction:
"Another, often unexpected issue is moire patterns. This is an unsightly jagged edge that can show in straight lines and ironically in the case of
With the total worth of these lenses you can buy a nice ranch in Montana, or a night at a boutique hotel in Tokyo. What you CANNOT buy however, are the 7 aforementioned lenses, since at least a couple of them are/will be backordered forever.
Photography Monthly just published its '50 greatest cameras of all time' for the second year in a row. It is a fair mix of pro and peoples cameras, the wacky and the serious. The only spoiler we'll provide is the thumbnail to the left, a nice crunchy brownie.
"The 35mm focal length has long been a first-choice for photojournalists. Wedding photographers, who work in some of the worst lighting venues to be found, also frequently often use 35mm f/1.4 lenses. Portrait photographers like the 35mm focal length for full to mid-body portraits and for group portraits. Landscape photographers have plenty of use for the 35mm focal length. Parents love 35mm
Canon Rumors has just updated this info to [cr2] If i remember correctly, the majority of rumors rated as such come true. Specs listed so far: 22mp, 61pt AF, 7.5fps, DIGIC 5+, New Battery Grip with Joystick, and GPS Ready. I think we can readily disregard the 7.5fps thing and replace it with some other cool new feature, after all we're talking about Canon here: So far history has shown us that they prefer to lose market share to
A value oriented all-rounder lens that's available in a lot of mounts:
"Perhaps the most important question this review should answer is whether the new model of the tested lens is better than its predecessor. The answer seems to be positive. The resolution of the new lens is similar to that of the older model; the chromatic aberration, distortion on wide angle,
Taking a break from all that mirrorless cuteness, here's a real man's camera review:
"The Nikon D5100 has a lot going for it; it’s easily one of the smaller (if not the smallest) digital SLR currently in the market yet has very pleasant
"I know that on paper this is a crazy comparison. It’s also not fair in that we have two very different sensors, one, a 21 mega pixel full frame at the end of it’s 3+ year life cycle and the other about a quarter of the size and which is not even 10 months into its own. Well, these are the two
The iso samples in this review really show off the huge fall in overall image quality starting at iso 3200. What would have been exceptional by Aps-c sensor standards just a couple of years ago, is now in the "mediocre to good" class, eclipsed by among others its own sibling, the NEX-7.
"The AF-S DX Micro-Nikkor 85mm f/3.5G ED VR was Nikon's first macro-lens designed specifically for DX-bodies. And it's only the second macro lens that offers image-stabilization following its larger cousin, the AF-S VR Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED. As an AF-S model, it'll autofocus on any Nikon body, but again it's only optically-corrected for DX-format DSLRs.
"Once again, we've been told (thanks) that the only Canon DSLR for CP+ will be the 650D/T4i and that the 5D3 won't be announced until after the 1D X ships...
"The price has not yet been determined but I have a feeling it will come in at a bit more than some are thinking. This is an exotic specialty lens.
Tokina Japan has released a new version of its 11-16mm wide-angle lens. The new AT-X 11-16 f/2.8 PRO DX II has an aspherical element, a new coating for improved performance and a AF-S equivalent Silent Drive Motor autofocus, usable with all Nikon DSLRs that don't have an
"For those of you wondering about how the NEX-7 handles high ISOs as compared to the A900, look no further. I’ve made some comps of both RAW and jpeg images, cropped from the center, with no changes other than converting the RAW (using ACR 6.6) to jpeg for posting. I shot the
The documentary "Hell and back again", shot by Danfung Dennis caused quite a stir in the Dslr (and not) shooting circles. This marks the very first time a film shot with a dslr gets an Academy Award nomination. A brief synopsis of the film:
"In summary, when the size of aperture is large (a small F-number like f/2.8), light rays reach dust particles that are sitting on the sensor filter from different angles. Remember, although I refer to this as “sensor dust”, dust actually never touches the sensor, because there is a thick filter
"Although the Nikon AF-S 55-200mm F/4-5.6 VR telephoto zoom is designed to be light and portable, the lens provides a solid feel when attached to a camera like the Nikon D3100 SLR.
"In my analysis, it looks like a Canon EOS 7D mk II — most of the buttons on the back and top match the current 7D… the thing that is baffling to most people is the lack of popup flash seen – which is why many are saying this is the Canon EOS 5D Mark III – but I seriously doubt it – unless they’ve abandoned much of the Canon EOS 5D Mark II setup.
"I'm currently on a shoot in Kenya, Africa, and I ran into a Japanese man sporting some gear I didn't recognize. While his English was very limited, I was able to confirm that he works for Canon and is doing in-field testing with the new Canon 200-400mm with built-in teleconverter. He
"The A65 may look a lot like a DSLR, but it’s different by design: a translucent mirror removes the need for mechanical mirror movement when each shot is fired. Instead light is fed to the sensor and an autofocus sensor simultaneously and without interruption which means this nifty bit of
"When hand-holding a telephoto lens with no VR, you always have to make sure that your shutter speed stays fast enough not to cause camera shake. Always remember that the longer the focal length of the lens, the more prone it is to camera shake.
"Video with the lens can be interesting. Side moving objects go from small to large in the middle to small again and it can be a bit odd for some viewers. Images shot straight forward, backward or straight up give a good full view of the action. For some additional tips on shooting with this
"Similar to Nikon's other mid-range lenses, the lens barrel is constructed from high quality plastics with a metal lens mount. It has a slighty textured finish, which doesn’t show marks easily and a large rubberised zoom ring, which stays put when set as desired. At only 460g, it is a quite a
"use a shorter lens than one would with the A900 or use the same lens and move back. In actual practice, I would use a shorter lens. So, most of the testing followed that path.
"Usually when something big in tech or photography happens my friends start asking me "did you order one?" This time the big news is the newly announced Nikon D4 DSLR camera. Let me start by saying that I've always had Nikon D3 envy, but just couldn't justify the price. I don't need the
"The first High ISO test of Nikon D4 with D3 published at mgphotographer, Before you jump to any decision please note that the D4 used in the comparison is loaded with a BETA firmware, so final firmware version of Nikon D4 may have some better performance, the images taken with the
"Now $15,999 remember only matters to owners. As an ownership prospect the Alexa would be poor value as well, for anyone without the business model to earn their $75,000 back from it. But I suspect Canon have their eye firmly on the rental and broadcast market with the C300,
