Gordon Laing reviewed the Nikon version of Tamrons latest lens mounted on the D800.

"Testing the Tamron SP 70-200/2.8 VC left me with mixed feelings. It looks like a very good design delivering very good to excellent performance in many cases, but:

- My copy performed poorly on the lower left side, a clear sign of decentering.

- It shows disappointing haloing in the center at 200mm at f2.8.

- The image stabilization needs to warm-up which almost certainly will ruin some of your shots.

Now you might assume that these glitches are caused by bad quality control at Tamron manufacturing and all you need to do is go out and try a number of copies until you find one that lives up to its potential."
